Transportes HAM adds 25 new tractor units to its fleet
All vehicles are powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG)
Transportes HAM has added 25 new tractor units powered by liquefied natural gas to its fleet, continuing its commitment, begun more than 20 years ago, to LNG as a fuel in road transport. Currently, 90% of our fleet uses LNG, a clean and safe fuel, which helps take care of the environment, since thanks to its use it is possible to reduce the polluting emissions of our fleet by 60% of nitrogen oxides, by 99 % PM particles and 95% carbon dioxide.
In an event that took place at our facilities at the HAM Abrera GNC-LNG service station, José María Chamizo, director of Gas Development at IVECO, handed over the vehicles to Antonio Murugó, general director of the HAM Group. Along with them were Víctor Banderas, director of Transportes HAM; Toni Murugó, HAM Cryogenic engineer; and Jordi Sardina, manager of the official IVECO dealership in the Free Zone.

The choice of the New Stralis NP was due, in the words of Toni Murugó, to the fact that “IVECO, with the Stralis NP, goes further in terms of alternative technology to diesel. “We want vehicles with the best features and that are respectful of the environment, and the NP is, without a doubt, the best option on the market.” This acquisition confirms our commitment to the development of engines that use alternative energies to diesel.
The 25 IVECO Stralis NP trucks acquired by Transportes HAM are powered by an 8.7-liter Euro VI natural gas IVECO Cursor 9 engine that develops a power of 400 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,700 Nm. The New Stralis NP is also the first natural gas truck with a 12-speed automated transmission, thanks to the Eurotronic transmission, which guarantees lower fuel consumption and greater driving comfort. The larger capacity fuel tanks increase the range with the LNG-only version, which reaches a record distance of 1,500 km.
At HAM Group we continue to focus on reducing the greenhouse effect, since in 2000 we were the first company in Europe to invest in LNG, purchasing 10 tractor units in the United States that were powered by liquefied natural gas. Since then, our efforts have been recognized by the gas sector, receiving several awards and mentions, such as the “Environmental Entrepreneurship Award” granted by Gasnam, the Iberian Association that is responsible for promoting the use of natural gas in land and maritime mobility.
HAM Group will continue to expand and renew its fleet of vehicles powered by liquefied natural gas and compressed natural gas, thus continuing with our highest level of demand and respect for the environment.
