DELGO becomes the first transport company in Spain to power all its natural gas vehicles with biomethane

The company takes a pioneering step in the decarbonisation of heavy-duty road transport by operating 100% of its fleet with BioLNG

DELGO, a transport company specialising in road logistics solutions, has become the first company in Spain to operate all its natural gas vehicles with BioLNG, a renewable fuel produced from urban, agricultural and livestock waste, particularly suitable for the decarbonisation of long-distance heavy-duty transport.

With this decision, DELGO marks a turning point in the professional transport sector, demonstrating that the transition towards more sustainable mobility is an operational reality that can already be applied to long-haul fleets without compromising autonomy, efficiency or service capacity.

The company, which works for clients in strategic sectors, such as Lidl, and carries out national and international transport, operating routes in Spain and across the rest of Europe, thereby reinforces its position as an operator committed to more responsible and efficient logistics, aligned with its clients’ emission reduction targets.

For DELGO, this commitment strengthens a clear vision: to offer its clients competitive transport that is also aligned with the new environmental requirements of the supply chain. More and more companies need to reduce the carbon footprint associated with their logistics operations, and the use of BioLNG makes it possible to move towards this goal without changing the usual operation of road transport.

Delgo is the first Spanish transport company to opt for BioLNG for its entire fleet of vehicles
The change promoted by DELGO, switching from LNG to BioLNG, will result in annual savings of 28,007 tonnes of CO₂ emissions in 2026 and 48,841 tonnes in 2027. These 2027 emissions are equivalent to the emissions of 9,900 cars over one year, 46,000 people taking flights between Madrid and New York, or the annual electricity consumption of more than 9,200 homes. To achieve this annual reduction in emissions naturally, approximately 2,000,000 mature trees would be needed.

With this decision, DELGO positions itself as an example for the sector and shows that sustainability can be incorporated into professional transport through daily operations, with vehicles on the road, real clients and goods in motion.

Félix González, CEO of DELGO, states: “From day one, we were clear that the decarbonisation of transport had to go hand in hand with operational capability and economic viability. Talking about sustainability is important, but the real challenge lies in turning it into a real solution for the day-to-day needs of professional transport.

Natural gas was the first step in our strategy and now, with the use of BioLNG across our entire fleet, we are taking another step towards an increasingly efficient and sustainable transport model. We are proud to offer our clients solutions that tangibly reduce their carbon footprint without compromising reliability or competitiveness. It is also a pleasure to make this journey alongside HAM and its entire team.

HAM Group is supporting DELGO in this process as a BioLNG supplier, providing the company with its expertise in renewable gases, energy supply and infrastructure for professional transport. The relationship between the two companies makes it possible to take biomethane from its renewable origin through to its final use on the road, turning organic waste into useful energy to move goods.

In the words of Antoni Murugó, CEO of HAM Group: “At HAM, we believe that the future of mobility must go hand in hand with better energy management, without this resulting in a loss of competitiveness for transport companies. Transforming waste into biofuels makes it possible to accelerate decarbonisation and, if we can involve small livestock and agricultural farms, we can also help guarantee the future of our primary sector.”

He also adds: “It is important that companies such as Delgo are committed to the environment, reaffirming their leadership in their sector through innovation and their commitment to technologies that, in addition to being profitable, are ecological, efficient and sustainable over time.
