Information about the HAM incident in Tarragona
News updated 09/12/25 – 15:00
HAM Group reports that an incident occurred yesterday at our HAM Tarragona LNG–CNG service station, located at the Bionet fuel station in the Riu Clar Industrial Park, where a deflagration took place in a vehicle while attempting to refuel. Fortunately, no loss of life has been reported.
According to preliminary investigations, at around 15:30 the driver of a Dacia Sandero LPG confused the type of fuel required by his vehicle and attempted to forcibly connect the supply system, which is designed exclusively for CNG. This improper manipulation caused the rupture of the vehicle’s LPG tank, as it is not designed to withstand the high operating pressures of CNG. The rupture generated significant material damage both to the vehicle and to the dispenser. The two occupants of the vehicle, with minor injuries, were immediately attended to by the emergency services and transferred to a hospital as a precaution. They are currently at home.
From the very first moment, our staff applied the established safety protocols and worked closely with firefighters and security forces. At this time, the authorities continue to investigate the exact causes of the incident to clarify what occurred and determine all details, which is why the service station remains temporarily sealed off.
HAM Group reaffirms its absolute commitment to safety and reminds users of the importance of always using the correct fuel for each type of vehicle, as well as following the instructions and signage present at our facilities to refuel safely.
We will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
