100% vehicular Bio LNG — Vilanant Biomethane
The HAM Group has developed the first 100% vehicular biomethane project in Spain, which will allow our customers to enjoy biofuel at our refuelling stations.
The project is based on the biogas generated in an anaerobic co-digestion plant for waste from the agri-food industry and a cattle farm, located at the Mas Jonquer de Vilanant farm in Girona. The biogas plant is owned by Apergas, a company dedicated to the engineering, development and operation of biogas plants.
The organic materials are collected, placed in a mixing pond and pumped to the biogas plant or biodigester, where they are degraded and nitrate-rich fertilisers and biogas, composed of 60% methane and 40% CO2, are obtained.
The biogas is refined through modular upgrading equipment, increasing its quality and obtaining a methane purity exceeding 99%.
Biomethane at refuelling stations
The biomethane is passed through compression equipment to increase its pressure to 250 bar, stored in tube trailers and transported through a virtual pipeline to refuelling stations.
Taking advantage of the availability of compressed biomethane at the source, we have installed a dispenser in Vilanant, reinforcing our network of international refuelling stations that consists of over 140 LNG, CNG and biomethane refuelling stations.
The HAM Group offers integrated solutions to all customers who have biogas but no pipeline. We take care of upgrading, compression, virtual pipelines and sales of biomethane at our filling stations.
